Before Yoshinoya became Yoshinoya, it was just a small street stand in Tsukiji. It’s since blown up to the international chain that it is, but Kitsuneya is here to take its place! Despite the 100 degree weather and only outdoor standing room, the man stirring the huge pot of gyudon sauce looked too appetizing. If you’re not familiar with gyudon, it’s one of the most common dishes you can find in Japan – a bowl of rice topped with soy-sauce marinated beef and caramelized onions and drizzled in the most deliciously hearty, thin beef broth. Yum to the max. I also noticed many people eating beef tofu with a side of white rice. You can’t go wrong with either!
I used to visit Yoshinoya in tsukiji market ten years ago because I worked in tsukiji.
The first Yoshinoya was ineteresting.
You used to work in Tsukiji?!! How cool!! I heard that the people working in Tsukiji have a special menu that you can order at Yoshinoya! Any truth to that? I’d love to hear your stories!
I have never heard that. Interesting. I worked at the office in tsukiji. My job was repair to old buildings in tsukiji. I was busy because the roof leaked in many places. :D
I can imagine – that must have been a busy job! Sounds fun to be around that hustle and bustle everyday!
My mouth is watering…
Hehehe I hope you have something on hand to eat! :)
how could you eat gyudon without meeeeee!!! actually, is gyudon an easy meal to make at home?
I just finished dinner but I have room for a bowl of that gyudon.
