I’ve been having problems with my iPhone home button not responding for awhile now, and I finally took it to the store this weekend only to find out that my warranty isn’t valid anymore. So instead of replacing an out of date iPhone 4 for a lot of moolah, the genius at the Genius Bar put a home button on my touch screen! Problem solved. For free!
Here’s how to do this on your iPhone too:
Go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Physical & Motor Assistive Touch
Switch on Assistive Touch. After a second, a button will appear on your screen. Tah dah!
A few tips:
- You can move this around wherever your heart desires. You’ll need to do this when this button gets in your way, which happens from time to time.
- When you tap on this new button, a screen will pop up with 4 icons. You’ll need to tap on the “Home” icon to go to the home screen.
- You can use the “Home” icon just like the real thing. Double tap for the ‘active’ menu, from the Home screen, press it again for ‘Search’, hold it down for ‘Voice Control’.
